The Nigeria Women Invitational T20I Tournament continues to deliver good intensity action as Rwanda face hosts Nigeria in a crucial encounter on Tuesday, March 24 at Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval.

Rwanda head into the clash in outstanding form, having won their opening three matches of the tournament that have already put them in strong contention for a semi-final spot.

Their campaign began with a dominant 122-run victory over Ghana on Friday, March 20. 15-year-old Fanny Utagushimaninde made history as the youngest centurion on women’s T20I debut with 111 runs off 65 balls.

Rwanda also recorded a convincing win against Zimbabwe by 60 runs. They then showed resilience in a tightly contested match against South Africa, edging their opponents by 4 runs via the DLS method (The Duckworth-Lewis-stern method.

DLS rules are used in cricket to decide results when the match is interrupted by rain or other delays.

With both batting firepower and disciplined bowling, Rwanda have established themselves as one of the standout teams of the tournament.

Hosts Nigeria have also made a strong start in front of their home crowd. The team has secured two wins in two matches, underlining their intent to challenge for the title.

They cruised to an 8 wicket victory over Zimbabwe before delivering a statement performance against Ghana, winning by a massive 136 runs.

Backed by home advantage and strong performances in both departments, Nigeria will be a serious test for Rwanda.
