Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda Basketball League side Tigers have completed the signing of Kenyan-American guard Albert Odero on a one-year contract.

Standing at 1.96 metres, the 28-year-old joins Tigers after most recently featuring for Kenyan powerhouse Nairobi City Thunder.

Odero brings a wealth of international experience, having previously played in Cape Verde, Spain, and the United States. He played college basketball at Binghamton University, where he represented the Binghamton Bearcats from 2017 to 2019 in the NCAA.

In 2019, he transferred to Arkansas Tech University, competing in the Gulf South Conference (NCAA Division II) during the 2019–20 season.

He later joined Talladega College, graduating in 2021 after playing for the Tornadoes during the 2020–21 season, which included participation in the NAIA Men’s Basketball Championship.

At the professional level, Odero signed for Ponta D’Agua Gorillas of Cape Verde in 2022. On July 23 of the same year, he joined FC Cartagena Baloncesto in Spain’s LEB Plata League, where he made four appearances before leaving the club in November.

On the international stage, Odero made his debut for the Kenyan national basketball team in 2020. He featured in four games during the AfroBasket 2021 qualifiers and later represented Kenya at the 2023 FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup.

In June 2024, Odero was suspended by the Kenya Anti-Doping Agency (ADAK) after testing positive for cannabinoid use during a doping test.

Tigers will be hoping Odero’s size, versatility, and international experience add depth and leadership to their roster as they push for success in the Rwanda Basketball League.
