Volleyball: Kenya Pipeline defeat Police in Group D opener

Africa-Press – Rwanda. Kenya Pipeline handed Police Women’s Volleyball Club the first loss in the Women’s African Volleyball club championship which is underway in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Kenyans beat Christian Hatumimana’s side in four sets (10-25, 19-25, 25-21, 18-25) in match that took place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium on Friday, April 4.

Kenya Pipeline started strongly, overwhelming Police in the first set 25-10. The dominance continued in the second set, where Police defensive lapses allowed the Kenyan champions to claim the set 25-19.

In the third set, Police, led by captain Judith Hakizimana, bounced back, improving their defense to secure the set 25-21. Unfortunately, their comeback didn’t go through and, despite pushing hard in the fourth set, they lost it 25-18.

In the same Group D, Cameroon giants Litto Team Volleyball Club swept Club Omnisport Descartes 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-22).

Police VC will return to action on Sunday, April 6, to face Litto Volleyball Club, while APR WVC will play against Maya Kane Evolution on Saturday, April 5.
