Africa-Press – Rwanda. Kirehe District emerged as the best-performing district in the 2024/2025 national examinations, registering the highest pass rates both in Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) and Ordinary Level (O-Level), the Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday, August 19.

In PLE, the district registered a pass rate of more than 97. per cent, while in O-Level the rate surpassed 91 per cent.

The results of the national exams were announced by the Ministry of Education and the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) on Tuesday afternoon.

In the PLE category, other top-performing districts included Kicukiro with 92.28 per cent, Ngoma with 90.93 per cent, Nyagatare with 87.18 per cent, and Rusizi with 85.93 per cent.

The five lowest-ranked districts were Nyaruguru with 64.57 per cent, Ruhango with 66.68 per cent, Nyabihu with 68.99 per cent, Kamonyi with 69.46 per cent, and Nyamagabe with 69.63 per cent.

In O’Level, Kirehe was followed by Ngoma with 78.8 per cent, Kayonza with 78.4 per cent, Rusizi with 70.5 per cent, and Rulindo with 69.5 per cent.

The five lowest-ranked districts in O-Level were Musanze with 44.6 per cent, Kamonyi with 45.0 per cent, Gakenke with 46.0 per cent, Nyarugenge with 46.1 per cent, and Gasabo with 47.1 per cent.

Nationwide, a total of 219,926 candidates sat for PLE, of whom 219,900 were graded. Out of these, 166,334 passed, representing a national pass rate of 75.64 per cent, according to NESA Director General Bernard Bahati.

Among the successful candidates, 53.2 per cent were girls.

In O-Level, 148,702 candidates sat for the exams. Of these, 148,676 were graded, with 95,674 passing. This translates into a pass rate of 64.35 per cent, with female candidates accounting for 50.2 per cent and male candidates 49.8 per cent of those who passed.
