Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda’s formal sector industrial output grew by 10.3 per cent in November 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, according to the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR).

The Index of Industrial Production, released on Sunday, January 4, tracked trends in the industrial sector through an overall index and separate indices for mining, manufacturing, electricity, and water and waste management. Construction activities were excluded due to data limitations.

The index shows that the sector recorded an average annual growth rate of 6.3 per cent.

Mining and quarrying output increased by 4.1 per cent, while manufacturing expanded by 4.9 per cent. Electricity production registered the strongest growth at 14.1 per cent, while water supply and waste management activities rose by 6.6 per cent.

The growth in manufacturing was largely driven by a 1.8 per cent increase in the production of beverages and tobacco, alongside a 2.6 per cent rise in the manufacture of chemicals, rubber and plastic products.

However, not all sub-sectors performed strongly. Output from textiles, clothing and leather goods declined by 7.5 per cent, while the manufacture of wood and paper products, including printing, fell by 6 per cent.
