Qatari group explores investment opportunities in Rwanda

Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) Deputy CEO, Juliana Muganza, on Tuesday, May 20, received Imad Al-Khoury, the Chief Executive Officer of Abela Qatar International (AQI), and his delegation, who are in Rwanda to explore investment opportunities in pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, real estate, and agriculture.

AQI is a diversified group of companies with investments spanning multiple sectors across Asia.

The visiting delegation also met, separately, with the Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, Dr Yvan Butera, in a discussion that “focused on investment opportunities in Rwanda’s pharmaceutical production, local manufacturing, and regional health security.”

Al-Khoury’s delegation includes Waseem Hamad, the CEO of Philex Pharmaceuticals, a multinational pharmaceutical company headquartered in the Sultanate of Oman, and Lee Farrelly, the General Manager of Manal Food Factory, a leading manufacturer that specializes in creating exceptional savories, pastries, ready-to-eat meals, and fresh produce.

In February, the government of Qatar approved a draft agreement on mutual visa waiver allowing free entry for holders of Rwandan ordinary passports. Rwanda and Qatar enjoy cooperation in various sectors, including defence and security, ICT, as well as aviation.
