Africa-Press – Rwanda. Ruling party RPF-Inkotanyi is holding its 16th national congress as well as celebrating its 35th anniversary at an event held at the party’s headquarters Intare Conference Arena in Rusororo on Sunday, April 2.
This event will see the party cadres elect a new National Executive Committee composed of the party Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary General, and Commissioners to lead the party in the next five years.
The RPF electronic voting system will disqualify any voter who doesn’t meet the 30-percent gender electoral quota.
The RPF national congress attracted more than 2,000 party members and allies.
At least eight delegations representing ruling parties from different African countries are attending.
Other invited guests are representatives of political organisations operating in Rwanda.
Only RPF cadres will participate in the elections.
On Saturday, April 1, the party held its International conference which brought together party cadres, representatives of other political organisations in Rwanda, international delegates representing political parties from different countries, diplomats and researchers, among others.
President Paul Kagame told the delegates that how to keep Africa’s transformation on track has been answered, at least in theory, and the remaining challenge is implementing what has been agreed upon.
“When it comes to doing things, we either do nothing or do the wrong things. How many conferences, how many experts, and how many times, do we have to discuss ‘what’ and ‘how’? When do we get to do what we have even agreed that is needed to be done? It is implementation,” Kagame added.
