Egyptian Military Chief Visits Rwanda to Boost Defense Ties

Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lt Gen Ahmed Fathi IBRAHIM KHALIFA, on Sunday, June 1, began a three-day official visit to Rwanda.

He visited the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Headquarters in Kigali, where he was received by the RDF Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Mubarakh Muganga.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen defence cooperation between the two armed forces, marking a significant step in deepening bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of training, health, and other initiatives.

Discussions between the two defence chiefs centred on enhancing joint military initiatives, expanding cooperation, and exploring new areas of strategic partnership, the RDF said in statement.

Their meeting was followed by the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements aimed at the establishment of a long-term and sustainable defence partnership.

The Egyptian military chief also paid his respects to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
