Africa-Press – Rwanda. Businessman Fabrice Ngoga Shema was Saturday, August 30, elected new president of Rwanda Football Association (Ferwafa) for a four-year term.

The election took place during the FERWAFA General Assembly held at Kigali Serena Hotel.

Shema garnered 51 votes out of a possible 53. He takes office replacing Alphonse Munyantwali who has been in office since June 2023.

After six years in administration as AS Kigali president since 2019, Shema now has bigger challenges waiting him to take on while at the helm of the embattled federation.

“I intend to make positive changes in the way our football development, we need to build strong football development and make sure to bring the winning spirit back,” Shema said his election.

Shema isn’t new is Rwandan football administration. He has been a football executive since 2019 when he was elected president of AS Kigali and guided the club to four major trophies.

Others who will help Shema in his executive commitee include:

Claudine Garasabwe, First Vice President in charge of Finance and Administration.

Richard Mugisha, Second Vice President in charge of Technical Matters.

Thierry Nshuti, Commissioner in charge of Finance and Marketing.

Valvelde Nikita Gicanda, Commissioner in charge of Women’s Football

Désiré Niyitanga, Commissioner in charge of Competitions

Fidele Kanamugire, Commissioner in charge of Technical and Development Committee

Louise Ndengeyingoma, Commissioner in charge of Legal and Governance Committee

Dr. Herbert Gatsinzi, Commissioner in charge of Medical Committee
