Africa-Press – Rwanda. The President of Guinea, Mamadi Doumbouya, arrived in Kigali on Thursday, January 25, for a three-day official visit to Rwanda.

He was received by his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame.

The visit by the West African country’s Head of State, a statement from his office said, aims at strengthening friendship and cooperation ties between the two countries.

It indicated that Doumbouya was officially invited by his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame.

Doumbouya was accompanied by the First Lady of Guinea, Lauriane Doumbouya.

It is expected that Doumbouya “will have fruitful exchanges” with Kagame, according to the Guinean presidency.

It recalled that Kagame had already honoured an invitation to Guinea from April 17-18, 2023 in a visit which resulted in the signing of an agreement on the creation of a joint cooperation committee between Rwanda and Guinea, covering areas such as agriculture, ICT, education, mining, and security.

“The trip of President Mamadi Doumbouya to Rwanda is particularly important in the pursuit of cooperation between the two nations, offering a unique opportunity to strengthen economic and diplomatic relations between Kigali and Conakry,” the statement reads in part.

It pointed out that the diplomatic steps of Doumbouya and his Rwandan counterpart aim to encourage cooperation between the two nations, with a view to promoting investments, peace, stability and prosperity in their respective countries.
