Africa-Press – Rwanda. President Mamadi Doumbouya of Guinea-Conakry is expected in Rwanda for a courtesy visit on Thursday, May 1, according to a statement from his office.
From Rwanda, Doumbouya will attend the inauguration ceremony of Gabon’s President-elect Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
President Doumbouya was last in Rwanda in January 2024, where he held a tête-à-tête with President Paul Kagame, followed by bilateral discussions between their respective delegation. He was on a three-day visit.
During that visit, Doumbouya said that with Kagame they would “address the positioning of a sovereign, self-determined and influential Africa on the international scene.”
The bilateral relations between the two countries are also established on an agreement on the creation of a joint cooperation committee covering areas of agriculture, ICT, education, mining, and security. It was signed during Kagame’s visit to Guinea in April 2023.
The relations also date back to 2016, when Kagame visited the west African country where he presided over the signing of agreements that opened doors for deeper collaboration in political consultations, health, immigration, planning and development, and air services, among other sectors.
