Africa-Press – Rwanda. President Paul Kagame has congratulated his Guinean counterpart Mamady Doumbouya, who got a landslide victory in the December 28 election.
Guinea’s Supreme Court on Sunday, January 4, confirmed Doumbouya, 41, as the winner of the first presidential elections held in West African country since 2021, when the army took over. He won with 86.72 per cent of the votes.
“Congratulations to my brother, President Mamadi Doumbouya, on his election as President of the Republic of Guinea,” Kagame wrote in a Monday post on X.
“We look forward to deepening our strong bilateral relations and working closely together to advance our shared priorities and the prosperity of our nations.”

Kagame last met with Doumbouya in November 2025, when he visited the West African country for the launch of Simandou Iron Ore Project, the world’s largest ongoing mining project.
Doumbouya had also visited Rwanda in early May. During the three-day visit he met Kagame as well as the Guinean community in Rwanda.
Doumbouya had served as interim president since the deposition of Alpha Conde, who had led Guinea for 11 years.
