Africa-Press – Rwanda. The newly appointed cabinet ministers, Sabin Nsanzimana, the Minister of Health and his deputy Yvan Butera, Minister of state in the same Ministry took oath on Wednesday, November 30.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at Parliamentary Buildings Kimihurura, and was presided over by President Paul Kagame.

The duo was appointed by the head of state and their appointment was announced by Prime Minister Édouard Ngirente in a statement issued two days ago, November 28.

Nsanzimana is not a new face having been the Director General of Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) until he was tapped to head the University Teaching Hospital of Butare (CHUB).

The soft-spoken epidemiologist replaces Dr. Daniel Ngamije, who has been at the helm of the Ministry since February, 2020.

Meanwhile, the new Minister of State, Yvan Butera, who has also been serving as the Deputy Executive Secretary for Human Resources for Health in the same ministry, replaces Dr. Tharcisse Mpunga.

Mpunga has since been appointed as Director General of the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK).
