Throughout the rigorous 47 week-long course, the officers honed their professional military skills and acquired extensive knowledge in strategic command and leadership management.
“The course design ensures that each officer attains a deeper understanding of joint operations, multinational cooperation, and the application of military art in diverse operational contexts,” said Brig. Gen Andrew Nyamvumba, the Commandant of the RDF Command and Staff College.
“This journey has not only sharpened the analytical and leadership skills of our officers but has also instilled the ethos of professionalism and strategic thinking necessary for modern warfare.”

Seventy-three of the officers were honoured with a Master of Arts degree in Security Studies from University of Rwanda.
Nyamvumba maintained that their diverse backgrounds and shared experience in the Senior Command and Staff Course provided a platform for mutual learning and cooperation, strengthening professional military bonds and enhancing the college’s role in regional and international security cooperation.
Since its establishment, 563 officers have graduated from the senior staff and command course, including 420 nationals and 143 from allied armed forces.
Each course conducts a mandatory two weeks of the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) as part of the efforts to hone their studies. With the increasing number of intakes, the RDF Staff and Command College is set for a major upgrade, according to the college’s administration.
