Africa-Press – Rwanda. President Paul Kagame and his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune officiated the signing of 11 cooperation agreements in different development fields between Rwanda and Algeria, on Tuesday, June 3.
Kagame is in the North African country on a two-day official visit upon the invitation of his counterpart.
The signed agreements span across sectors, such as air service, visa exemption, communication, police, pharmaceutical industries, and higher education. There are also agreements on agriculture, entrepreneurship, telecommunication, justice, professional training, and investment promotion.

President Kagame also announced the upcoming opening of a Rwandan Embassy in Algeria.
Following bilateral discussions between delegations from both sides and the signing of agreements, the Heads of State addressed a press conference.

They reiterated their commitment to strengthening the longstanding cooperation between Rwanda and Algeria.
The discussions during the leaders’ tête-à-tête also focused the importance of intra-African cooperation, with a focus on free trade as well as knowledge and skills exchange.
They also discussed the lessons learned from rebuilding a nation following a difficult history.
Kagame laid a wreath at the Maqam Echahid (Martyrs’ Memorial) in Algiers, paying tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives during the Algerian War of Independence.
The two leaders last met in December 2024, on the sidelines of the Continental Forum on Education and Youth Employability in Nouakchott, Mauritania, where they deliberated on ways of improving the bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of education, defence and security as well as opportunities for new partnerships in agriculture and infrastructure.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of several cooperation agreements covering key sectors, including air services, visa exemption, communication, police cooperation, pharmaceutical industries, higher education etc.
