Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Government of Rwanda has strongly condemned the Israeli strike carried out in Doha, Qatar, describing it as a dangerous violation of international norms and a threat to global stability.
The strikes were carried out by Israel Defence Forces on Tuesday, September 9 in Doha, targeting senior Hamas leaders.
In a statement issued on Thursday, September 11, Rwanda, through the Office of the Government Spokesperson’s official X account, expressed solidarity with Qatar, noting that it “unequivocally condemns the strike” and extends condolences for the death of Qatar’s personnel.
The government went on to warn that such actions undermine international order and create a dangerous precedent.
“The wanton trampling of foundational norms of interstate relations is dangerous and unsettling, and is leading the world into a ‘no-rules-based order’ for which there is no contemporary precedent,” the statement read, adding that the “continued escalation is senseless, and yet the international community seems content to let it continue unchecked.”
Rwanda also criticised the “hypocrisy and complacency from powerful nations,” warning that such attitudes leave the world vulnerable to growing chaos and uncertainty.
The statement also highlighted Qatar’s role as a mediator in some of the most complex conflicts in the Middle East and Africa, urging the international community to value and support these efforts.
“The State of Qatar is playing a crucial role in mediation efforts in some of the most complex and intractable situations in the Middle East and Africa, and this merits universal appreciation and gratitude,” it read.
