Africa-Press – Rwanda. President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame on Saturday, February 1, joined senior government officials to lay wreaths in honour of national heroes at the National Heroes Mausoleum in Remera.

The annual commemoration brought together high-ranking government officials, military and police leaders, diplomats, and the families of the honoured heroes.

Held under the theme “Ubumwe n’Ubutwari bw’Abanyarwanda, Inkingi z’Iterambere,” translates to “Heroism and Unity for Rwanda’s Development,” the ceremony is a key part of National Heroes’ Day, that is observed every year on February 1.

This year marks the 31st edition of the event, recognizing heroes in three categories: Imanzi, Imena, and Ingenzi.

The theme for this year’s Heroes Day is “Ubumwe n’Ubutwari bw’Abanyarwanda, Inkingi z’Iterambere,” which translates to “Heroism and Unity for Rwanda’s Development.”
