Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwandans holding service and diplomatic passports will go to Russia visa-free following the signing of an agreement to that end, according to a statement by Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
As per the November 9 statement, the visa waiver agreement for holders of service and diplomatic passports was signed by Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb Olivier Nduhungirehe, and Russia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Sergey Lavrov, as they met on the sidelines of the First Ministerial Conference of Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
The forum runs from November 9 through 10 in Sochi – the largest resort city in Russia.
According to Rwanda’s Embassy in Russia, diplomatic relations between the two states were established on October 17, 1963.
Currently, both countries enjoy good relations through respective resident diplomatic missions at an ambassadorial level. The bilateral cooperation between the two countries revolves around political, military, education, human resource development, training, and cultural ties.
Russia offers University scholarships for Rwandans, and some training for Police officers.
About 800 Rwandan students have graduated from Russian universities over the last 50 years in various disciplines including law, medicine, international affairs, and political science, it added.
