Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda is set to host the 27th International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA) Annual General Meeting and Conference set to be held from October 26 to 31, 2025, according to a statement from Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS).
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to host the meeting and conference was signed between RCS Commissioner General Evariste Murenzi, and ICPA President Peter Severin. The signing was done, on April 24, on the sidelines of the ICPA conference on technology and innovation in prison infrastructure taking place in Istanbul, Turkey, from April 22 to 26.
By hosting this event, Rwanda will be the second African country, after Namibia in 2014, to do so.
ICPA is a non-profit association for prison professionals founded in 1998 with a mission to promote and share ethical and effective correctional practices to enhance public safety and healthier communities worldwide. It is a non-governmental organisation in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).
Normally, the RCS statement indicated, ICPA rotates its annual general meeting and conference in different countries, often attracting more than 900 participants from across the world, aiming to recognise outstanding progress and excellence with respect to its mission, particularly in prisons or corrections achievements which advance humanitarian, environmental and professional corrections and prisons approaches.
