Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwandan and Mozambican security forces fighting the Islamic state linked terroris in Mozambique’s northern Province of Cabo Delgado jointly conducted community work (Umuganda) in Palma and Mocimboa da Praia cities on Saturday, September 23.

Their effort was part of a series of activities that commemorated the 59th anniversary of Mozambique’s Liberation Day – September 25, 1964 – in its fight against Portugal’s colonial rule.

The community work was conducted jointly with Mozambique’s security organs. In Palma, the joint security forces cleaned the surroundings of Palma Health Center together with medical personnel operating at the health center.

In Mocimboa da Praia, the cleaning activities were done around the main roads and feeder roads, and streets. At the same time Rwanda security forces also provided clean water to 1,650 returnees from Naquitengue who are at Trinta de Julho Primary school, about three kilometres from Mocimboa da Praia city.

Rwandan commanders in Mocimboa da Praia and Palma appreciated their Mozambican counterparts’ initiative of organizing the event that brought together security organs to support Palma and Mocimboa da Praia for cleaning the surroundings. They assured the Mozambican security forces and the leadership of Palma health center of continued support in similar community work initiatives in future.
