Africa-Press – Rwanda. As Rwanda commemorates the 30th anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, Winner Rwanda, a leading gaming company in the region, paid a heartfelt tribute to the victims during a visit to the Ntarama Genocide Memorial Site in Bugesera District.

The ceremony was both solemn and symbolic, with company leaders and employees laying wreaths to honour the over 6,000 Tutsi victims buried at the site. The act of remembrance resonates deeply with Winner Rwanda’s ethos, particularly as it aligns with their ongoing commitment to support Rwanda’s path to reconciliation and rebuilding.

“Today, as we remember the lives lost during one of the darkest periods in our history, we also reaffirm our commitment to unity and peace,” said Shaul Hatzir, Managing Director of Winner Rwanda. Hatzir, who hails from Israel—a nation similarly marked by the scars of genocide—emphasised the shared histories and the collective responsibility to prevent such atrocities in the future.

In a significant gesture of support to the Ntarama community, after the visit, Winner Rwanda visited the Gasore Serge Foundation campus and also announced a donation to their Kinsley Blake Hanner health post. The health post, which sees between 75 to 100 patients daily will use the donation to equip themselves with a vital sign monitor and paediatric pulse oximetry to enhance maternal and child healthcare services at the centre.

“This contribution from Winner Rwanda is invaluable. It enables us to provide better care for mothers and children, especially now, during the rainy season when the incidence of pneumonia increases,” explained Mbabazi Sabine, Director of The Kinsley Blake Hanner Health Post.

Winner Rwanda’s actions on this significant anniversary serve as a poignant reminder of the power of collective remembrance and the ongoing journey towards a more united and resilient Rwanda.
