Young Kobusingye has her eyes set on RDF spokesperson job

Africa-Press – Rwanda. Young Doreen Kobusingye aspires to be the future Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) spokesperson. She was given the opportunity to have a tete-a-tete with RDF’s current Spokesperson, Col. Ronald Rwivanga, on the occasion of World Children’s Day, annually observed on November 20.

She also had the opportunity to tour the Kimihurura-based RDF headquarters. During their conversation, according to a video posted on RDF social media platforms, Rwivanga outlines his duties as the country’s defence force’s spokesperson to her.

He advised her that she would first need to learn a lot about the country, gather news from all corners, and get informed. In the Kinyarwanda video, the RDF Spokesperson tells his guest that his work requires him to know “everything” before speaking because all information about his institution has consequences.

He then went on to ask her why she was keen on joining the military, let alone be the spokeswoman. According to Kobusingye, she was inspired by a book entitled ‘Rubyiruko Dufite Igihango’, which is loosely translated as “Young people, we have a Country.”

Through this book, she disclosed, she leant a lot about the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi, the RPF-Inkotanyi and President Paul Kagame This has inspired her to emulate those who played a role in liberating Rwanda.

Kobusingye is arguably a critical example of how the RPF leadership has inspired and empowered young people in Rwanda to think and dream big. Her aspirations are well in with year’s theme for World Children’s Day, which is ‘I Am the Future’.
