Africa-Press – Rwanda. Kepler VC’s hot form in African Volleyball Club Championship continued with victory over Cameroon’s Port Autonome De Douala on Monday but their Rwandan counterparts APR lost to Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis (EST).
The match, held at Misurata International Hall in Libya, saw Kepler’s squad maintain high momentum, narrowly securing the first set 25-23.
The club, largely composed of university players, looked motivated not only by the desire to win all their games but also by the presence of their team president, Nathalie Munyampenda, who was watching from the stands.
The Cameroonians did not surrender easily in the second and third sets, fighting until the final points but ultimately lost both sets 25-19 and 25-21 to a determined Kepler side.
Kepler were celebrating their second win after edging PAD VC 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-21) at Swehly Club Hall on Sunday.
Elsewhere, EST swept APR in three straight sets 25-17, 25-23, and 25-16.
The first set proved difficult for APR as the Tunisian club easily bypassed their defensive efforts, resulting in a 25-17 set score.
APR’s squad, led by captain Prince Kanamugire, tried to resist in the second set, collecting points from deep serves by setter Paul Akam. Unfortunately, they lost the set 23-25 and then the third set 25-16.
Action continues on Tuesday, April 22, where APR VC will take on Volleyball Club Emmanuel while Kepler will be looking to end the group stages unbeaten when they face Libya’s Ittihad Tripoli VC.
