APR FC Chairman Addresses Court Case with Fans and Staff

Africa-Press – Rwanda. APR FC Chairman Brig. Gen. Deo Rusanganwa, has spoken publicly about an ongoing court case involving some of the club’s fans, military officers, and sports journalists.

The case involves 28 people, including officers both in Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and the Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS). All suspects face charges related to an illegal purchase of airline tickets using the account of the Ministry of Defence.

The hearing of the case took place on Wednesday, August 13 at a Kigali-based military tribunal.

Speaking about the case, Rusanganwa, referred to it as an investigation into the team’s management so that those who made mistakes could be held accountable.

Among the suspects are RDF officers Capt. Peninah Mutoni, Capt. Peninah Umurungi, RCS officers CSP Hillary Sengabo and CSP Olive Mukantabana, as well as sports journalists Reagan ‘Rugaju’ Ndayishimiye of Rwanda Broadcasting Agency and Ricard Ishimwe of SK FM.

Civilians implicated include former sports journalist Atha Biganiro and Frank Mugisha, also known as ‘Janguani,’ a self-proclaimed spokesperson of APR FC supporters.

RDF announced their arrest in a statement released on August 5, as the Military Prosecution pursues charges against them.
