Africa-Press – Rwanda. APR FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Rutsiro FC in a Rwanda Premier League encounter played on Saturday at Stade Umuganda in Rubavu.

The home side started brightly, pushing forward in front of their fans. In the sixth minute, Jeremie Mumbele came close to putting Rutsiro ahead, but his effort went narrowly wide.

Rutsiro continued to create chances through quick passing but failed to make their opportunities count.

Against the run of play, APR FC took the lead in the 32nd minute when Denis Omedi converted a pass from Hakim Kiwanuka.

However, Rutsiro equalised shortly before halftime. In the 41st minute, APR defender Clement Niyigena fouled Mumbele inside the box, and Jean Claude Nizeyimana made no mistake from the penalty spot to level the score at 1-1.

The second half saw both teams pushing for a winner, but neither managed to break the deadlock despite several substitutions and attacking efforts from APR FC.

Meanwhile, Mukura VS drew with Police FC, while Musanze FC secured a 2-0 victory over Amagaju FC.

Police FC remain at the top of the league standings with 16 points, followed by Rayon Sports in second place with 10 points.
