Africa-Press – Rwanda. APR FC will from August 17 host a pre-seasonfootball tournament at Amahoro at Kigali Pele Stadium.
The tournament, dubbed ‘Inkera y’Abahizi’ is in line with the way the Rwandan army used to operate during the era of kingdom, according to club Chairman Brig Gen Deo Rusanganwa.
“The era of the heroes is the days of the kings, where there would be attacks, and the army would prepare and hunt. So we, APR, will hunt a lot on the field, and to make sure that our fans are happy,” Rusanganwa said.
“The championship is about to start and there are also competitions that APR FC have ahead. So this tournament will help prepare the players for the new season,” he added
The tournament will feature teams from Rwanda and those from neigbouring countries in the CECAFA region and beyond. Invited teams include Power Dynamos from Zambia and AZAM FC from Tanzania, who will come from abroad, joining local teams Police FC and AS Kigali.
The matches will start on August 17, 2025, with APR playing the opening match against Power Dynamos at Amahoro Stadium which will be home of the tournament alongside Kigali Pele Stadium.
