Africa-Press – Rwanda. APR, Kepler Volleyball Clubs and Gisagara closed the volleyball league fourth round on a bright note after registering wins over East Africa University Rwanda (EAUR), Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) and Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) Ngoma respectively on Saturday, November 8.

All matches were played at Ste Famille indoor Gymnasium which was inaugurated on Friday, November 7. It currently serves as the home ground for both volleyball and basketball clubs of Rwandan Energy Group (REG).

APR had a tough third round during which they lost to Kepler VC in straight sets in Gisagara. The army side, led by captain Prince Kanamugire, recovered in time to beat EAUR in straight sets (25-23, 25-14, 25-22) in what was their match of the new season.

They took the opening set 25-23. EAUR coach Vincent Disabimana and his men had put in so much efforts to claim the set but APR prevailed in the end to win it late.

While their opponents had lost morale, APR built on the momentum and won the second set 25-14 and the third 25-22 to secure the victory.

“This is our second victory, and we are rooting for more ahead,” Kanamugire told Times Sport after the win.

Meanwhile, red-hot Gisagara VC opened Saturday fixtures with a dominant win over Rwanda Polytechnic Ngoma in straight sets (25-12, 25-20, 25-14)

KVC managed to win a set but still fell short in four sets (17-25, 25-23, 17-25, 21-25) against Kepler VC, while Rwanda Energy Group (REG) bounced back from defeat against Police on Friday to defeat Kirehe VC 3-1 (25-12, 18-25, 25-15, 25-11).

In the women’s category, both EAUR WVC and Kepler WVC, coached by Florien Sibomana, swept their opponents in straight sets.

After falling short against APR WVC on Friday, EAUR bounced back with a dominant 3-0 win (25-11, 25-11, 25-12) against RP-Huye.

Kepler WVC followed suit, defeating Ruhango VC 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-20).
