Australia names squad for UCI World Championships in Kigali

Africa-Press – Rwanda. Australia’s cycling team has unveiled its 28 rider squad for the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali, from September 21-28.

While many countries are still finalizing their lineups, Australia became the latest country to make official rosters for the championship which is coming to Africa for the first time after France and New Zealand among others.

Four Australian riders returning from last year’s winning teams include Brodie Chapman, Michael Matthews and Jay Vine admitting themselves following the Slovenian four-time Tour de France winner and defending 2024 Elite Men’s UCI Road Race champion Tadej Pogačar, who has confirmed his participation.

The UCI Road World Championships feature multiple disciplines namely Individual Time Trial (ITT), the mixed Team Relay–where the Australian squad will aim to defend its rainbow-jersey title won in 2024–as well as Elite, Under-23, and Junior races in both men’s and women’s divisions.
