REG 86-45 Overdose
American point guard Tiffany Mitchell lived up to the bills as her game-high 23 points powered REG to an 86-45 victory over Cameroon’s Overdose on Monday, December 11, and lift the team off to a bright start of the ongoing FIBA Africa Women Basketball League (AWBL).
The 29-year old made her presence inside Alexandria court noticed as she stood out with great attacking prowess and solid defensive display to make life difficult for the Cameroonians.
Feza Isomi Ibengo and American point guard Destiney Philoxy added 16 and 13 points respectively for Esperance Mukaneza’s side to pile more misery on the Overdose who looked lost in the first three quarters.
REG started the game well winning the first quarter 24-11 and second quarter 32-10.
Back in the second half, the Rwandan representatives continued their dominance with a win in the third quarter 21-14 but Overdose managed to win the last quarter 10-9 which was, nevertheless, not enough to avoid a loss.
REG women return to action on Tuesday, December 12, where they will take on Angolan powerhouse Inter Clube.
The newly-launched AWBL will run between Monday, 11 December through Tuesday, December 19, in the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria.
