Africa-Press – Rwanda. Selected Players and coaches who participated at the Basketball Africa League (BAL) have been invited to take part in this year’s NBA Summer League from July 7-17 in Las Vegas.
The BAL players and some other notable players from other professional leagues will feature in all 30 NBA teams in an attempt to earn contracts.
A total of 75 games will be played in the 11-day competition with each team playing a total of five games.
Each team will play four games from July 7-15 while the top two teams from their first four games will play in the Championship Game on July 17.
The 28 teams not playing the Championship Game will play a fifth game on either July 16 or 17.
Seeding for the Championship Game will be determined by winning percentage and with tiebreakers.
Milwaukee Bucks has handed an invitation to Evans Ganapamo who played for Cape Town Tigers in Season 2 of the BAL.
The 28-year-old small forward averaged 16.2 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 1.8 APG and 1.5 STLPG in 35 minutes per game
Forces Armees et Police (FAP) Coach Francois Enyegue who led his team to the Final 4 of the BAL Season 2 has also been called up by the Bucks to be part of their summer league team.
He fell short of a third-place win after losing to Zamalek in the semi-finals. Enyegue was assistant Head Coach during the inaugural season of the BAL but was promoted to Head Coach during the second season.
Meanwhile, Toronto Raptors has also invited Coach Emmanuel Mavomo of Espoir Fukash to be part of their summer league team.
He led the Democratic Republic of the Congo team to their first Basketball Africa League playing in the Nile Conference in Cairo, Egypt.
According to BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall, “the participation of BAL players and coaches is part of the league’s strategic objective to build capacity and improve on the quality of the product on the court.”
