UGB 100-94 Tigers
Patriots 71-62 APR
Star point guard Elliott Cole starred with a game high 19 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists to power Patriots to a 71-62 victory over APR at BK Arena on Sunday.
The win not only brought APR’s 15-match unbeaten run to an end but it also came as a sweet revenge for the Patriots who lost 68-67 against the same team in the first round thanks to Adonis Filers’ last-minute three-point buzzer.
Prior to the game, APR had little to play for as they have already won the regular season while Patriots, fresh from shock losses against Tigers and Kepler this week, came into the game looking to leave it all on the floor, as they continue their quest for a spot in the playoffs.
Sunny Niyomugabo’s side started the game brightly and won the first quarter 26-18 before both sides finished the second quarter tied on 12-12, going into half-time with 38-30 in favour of Patriots.
Back in the second half, APR regrouped and put up a fierce offensive game that saw them gain control. They claimed the third quarter 18-16 but Patriots kept the fight on to win the last quarter 17-14 to secure the win which kept them in contention for the top four finish.
Elliott scored 19 points in the 38 minutes he played while Cadeau De Dieu Furaha and Olivier Kamilindi scored 10 points each.
The Patriots are now in second place with 23 points, while Tigers maintained the third place with 21 points despite losing 100-94 to UGB.
