Rwanda Energy Group (REG) women basketball club on Wednesday, August 27, kept their hopes of retaining the title alive after beating Kepler 50-45 in Game 4 at Petit Stade to tie the best-of-seven series at 2-2.

Kepler had been leading the game throughout three quarters but REG, who were just a point behind after the third quarter, fought back to take the game at all coasts.

Kepler started Game 4 with a step ahead, taking first quarter 14-10 but REG stayed very close by claiming the second quarter 14-13 to go into half-time trailing 24-27.

In the second half, REG reduced the deficit by just one point after winning the third quarter 10-8 before dominating the last quarter 16-10 to take home the win.

American center Kristina Morgan posted a game-high 12 points and her teammates Odile Tetero and Maiga Kadidia added 11 and 8 points respectively, and their contribution rallied the club back in contention of the championship.

Both teams return to action for Game 5 on Friday, August 29.

Meanwhile, APR women basketball club concluded their league campaign with a third-place finish after Wednesday’s hard-fought 67-54 in the best-of-five third-place playoffs completed a three-sweep on The Hoops.
