Africa-Press – Rwanda. Experienced Rwandan forward Dieudonné Ndizeye has signed a short-term contract with Morocco’s MAS Fes, while his compatriot Steven Hagumintwari has returned to Patriots Basketball Club.
The moves follow the duo’s failed transfer to Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in December, as the club went back and forth with the players, reportedly showcasing unwillingness to pay the money it had agreed to give them in the contracts.
The two players had spent a decade playing together at Patriots Basketball Club. Now Hagumintwari is set to continue at the club for at least one more year.
Speaking to Times Sport, Ndizeye confirmed his move to Morocco.
“I am glad to be part of this team,” he said. “After completing a two-day trial, I passed and had my first training session with my new teammates on Thursday.”
Ndizeye described his new job as “a big challenge” requiring significant effort.
A standout performer in the 2024 season, Ndizeye played a crucial role as the Patriots finished as runners-up in the Rwanda Basketball League.
Known for his skill and work ethic, he has been one of the country’s top players for years.
In 2019, he was named the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP). He also competed in two editions of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), representing the Patriots in 2021 and REG in 2022.
