Patriots vs. REG – 9 PM

Two Rwandan basketball rivals—Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and Patriots—go head-to-head in what promises to be a major battle in the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL) at BK Arena on Friday, March 21.

The much-anticipated game was initially scheduled for Friday, March 14 before it was later postponed due to what the local basketball governing body cited as “unavoidable scheduling adjustments.”

The match comes at a time when the energy side is in top form, having lost only one game since the start of the season, while Patriots have lost twice with the most recent defeat coming against APR BBC on March 16.

REG will be going to action without head coach Goh Odaudu, who has returned to Nigeria to prepare Rivers Hoopers for the Basketball Africa League season five.

In Odaudu’s absence, Bienvenue Ngandu will be in charge of the team.

REG will rely on the services of key players including the likes of Jean-Jacques Boissy and center Pieter Prinsloo.

Boissy has established himself as the club’s main man since his arrival before the beginning of this season.

For South African center Prinsloo, who also joined this season, much is still expected on the floor.

Meanwhile, the Patriots will look to American point guard Cole Elliot Lamar and Chadian forward Ronald Nato Kolmia to lead their charge.

So far, Elliott has been their best player since his move in February, starring with his high scoring rate in the past couple of games he has played.

Before the highly anticipated showdown, champions APR will take on Tigers at 6:30 PM.
