Bugesera FC vs Rayon clash to resume behind closed doors

Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Rwanda FA has announced that the league match between Bugesera FC and Rayon Sports, which was called off due security issues, will resume on Wednesday, May 21 at 4PM at Bugesera Stadium. No fans will be allowed in the stadium.

The match was postponed in the 57th minute after Rayon Sports fans threw objects in the pitch, voicing their frustration towards center referee Patrick Ngaboyisonga, claiming that he denied their team a penalty.

In a letter addressed to Bugesera FC on Monday, May 19, the game will be played behind closed doors. Only clubs’ officials from both teams will attend the match.

“The postponed match will resume on May 21, 2025, at 4:00 PM, and will continue from the minute it was stopped. It will be played behind closed doors, with only the following officials allowed to attend: the full club committee and the honorary president,” the letter signed by FERWAFA Secretary General Adolphe Kalisa reads in part.

“The match will resume with the same players who were on the pitch and listed on the match sheet. The scoreline will remain, the match will be played at the same stadium, and the match officials will not change.”

Bugesera FC have a 2-0 lead courtesy Farouk Ssentogo’s 13th minute opener and an Umar Abba 55th minute penalty.
