Africa-Press – Rwanda. Carlos Takam’s boxing academy is set to be officially inaugurated in Kigali in March 2026, the Cameroonian’s foundation announced.

The plan to establish the facility, aimed at training Africa’s future boxing talents, was announced as part of a three-year Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Carlos Takam Foundation and Rwanda Boxing Federation in April 2025.

Takam, who recently met President Paul Kagame on the sidelines of the just-concluded UCI Road World Championships 2025 said, “My dream is to see a generation of champions born in Africa, trained and supported on their own continent. The academy will be a place of excellence, discipline, and pride for African youth.”

The academy will serve as the veteran boxer’s way of giving back to African youth, setting a benchmark facility for training, coaching, and developing boxing talent across the continent.

Carlos Takam Foundation also plans to offer school fees for athletes selected to join the academy — a significant contribution to the growth and development of boxing in Rwanda.
