Maik Steiner of Germany will face Corentin Denolly of France in the singles final of Rwanda Open M25 scheduled for Sunday, October 12, at RP-Kicukiro Ecology Tennis Club.

Denolly, 28, qualified for the finals after countryman Florent Bax decided to retire from the semifinal clash, on Saturday, due to injury.

On the other side of the draw, eighth seed Steiner has been the tournament’s surprise package. The 22-year-old German reached his first Rwanda Open final by defeating Belgium’s Martin Van der Meerschen 7–6(5), 6–2 in Saturday’s semifinal.

His quarterfinal victory over Dutch top seed Max Houkes highlighted his composed baseline play and clinical shot-making. Steiner dropped just one set the entire week.

Doubles final set

In doubles action, India’s Aditya Balsekar and Malaysia’s Darrshan Suresh reached the final after defeating compatriots Ishaque Eqbal and Maan Kesharwani 7–6(6), 1–6, [10–6].

They will face Europe’s Martin Van der Meerschen (Belgium) and Maximilian Homberg (Germany). It took the duo a super tiebreak to advance to the final with a 6–3, 3–6, 10–6 victory over Morocco’s Yassine Dlimi and Younes Lalami.
