Africa-Press – Rwanda. The 2023/24 Wheelchair Basketball championship finals that concluded on Sunday, April 28, at STECOL in Masoro, Kigali, saw Eagles and Gasabo dominate the podium in men and women categories, respectively.

Eagles claimed the men’s championship after beating Kicukiro 28-21 while Gasabo outplayed Kicukiro 10-8 triumph in a thrilling weekend of wheelchair basketball finals.

The excitement didn’t stop there, as the fight for the bronze medal in the men’s category saw Musanze surge to a 30-26 victory against Indangamirwa, claiming the third spot on the podium and rounding off a stellar tournament in the men’s division.

The Para Athletics Championship which also came to a close on Sunday showcased an array of outstanding performances as Rwamagana dominated the women’s medal ranking, winning 8 gold and 5 silver medals. They were followed by Musanze who amassed 6 gold and 4 silver medals while Gasabo finished third and took home 2 gold medals in the competition.

In the men’s division, Musanze left a mark and bagged 5 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Nyabihu came close in second place with 3 gold and 1 silver medal while Gasabo secured 2 gold and 1 silver medal.

2. Rwamagana: 9 Gold and 6 Silver

3. Gasabo: 4 Gold, 1 Silver and 5 Bronze

6. Kirehe: 4 Silver and 1 Bronze

7. Ngoma: 1 Silver and Bronze 1

8. Bugesera: 1 Silver and 1 Bronze
