Africa-Press – Rwanda. Star midfielder Kevin Muhire has said that every team in Rwanda Premier League, including their next opponents Gasogi United, is targeting to beat Rayon Sports.

The Blues have had a quiet start to the league campaign, draw their opening to games against Marines (0-0) and Amagaju FC (2-2).

They return to action on Saturday, September 21, when they take on Gasogi United at Amahoro Stadium.

Muhire is aware that his team face a tough test against Gasogi United but reassured that he and his teammates will be ready to overcome it.

“When you’re a big team like Rayon Sports, everyone wants to beat you, every team gives 100 per cent against you. They all want to beat you therefore, it’s upon you to deal with it in the best way possible,” Muhire said.

“It will be a tough match [against Gasogi] and that’s why, as players, we have to show that we can beat them and improve our performance.”

Rayon Sports are looking to win the title for the first time since 2019. The club, which under the tutelage of Brazilian Robertinho, has struggled during their first two matches, casting doubts among fans and football analysts whether they can finally end their title jinx.

However, Muhire is optimistic that it’s too early to count them out of the title race, considering that there are still many matches to play.

“In a league, just like in marathon, you can never get excited because you’re winning one game or losing two matches. Failing to collect three points in first two matches at the very start doesn’t mean that you’re out of the title race because you’ve got too much distance to cover to be champions,” Muhire said.

His league-marathon link was in response to the subject about whether his side, after two back-to-back draws, can embrace the race against the likes of holders and archrivals APR FC.

“It’s too early to start taking about the title. We’ve only played two matches. I don’t want to talk about winning league title now or losing it, our main focus is to do better against Gasogi,” he said.
