Rwanda’s U16 girls team will be looking to begin their FIBA Africa Zone 5 qualifying campaign brightly when they face Burundi on Thursday, June 29, at Lycée de Kigali Gymnasium.
Rwanda is one of three nations battling for the lone ticket available to play the 2023 FIBA Africa women’s finals that will take place in Monastir, Tunisia, from July 13 to 23.
The home side starts their qualification campaign with a game against Burundi, a match which Rwandan coach Jacques Bahige said his girls have prepared enough, expecting nothing but a win before their home supporters.
“Our girls are well prepared; we hope to win our first game. We are ready to fight for a ticket to play in the final tournament next month,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Rwanda U16 boys will be looking to bounce back from Wednesday’s 56-59 shock defeat to Uganda in the same qualifiers when they face Tanzania on Thursday
