Africa-Press – Rwanda. Germany cycling federation has announced a squad of eight riders for the upcoming 2025 UCI Road World Championships, scheduled to take place in Kigali from September 21-28.
The Central European nation becomes the sixth team to unveil its roster after the United States, France, Australia, New Zealand, and host nation Rwanda.
Historically, Germany has enjoyed podium glory in the women’s road race, with Regina Schleicher winning in 2005 and Judith Arndt triumphing in 2004.
The nation is perhaps best known for powerhouse riders like Jan Ullrich and Tony Martin in the men’s individual time trial where Ullrich won the race in 1999 and 2001, while Martin became a four-time world champion (2011, 2012, 2013, 2016) and also ended his career with a golden mixed relay team effort in 2021.
