Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rainfall between 10 and 50 millimetres is forecast across the country in the last ten days of September, which is below the long-term average of 10 to 70 millimetres for the period, according to Rwanda Meteorological Agency (Meteo Rwanda).

This is the period during which, for the first time, the UCI Road World Championships is coming to Africa, with Kigali hosting the 2025 edition.

The event is drawing hundreds of riders and teams, with projections to reach over 330 million viewers worldwide.

The forecast released on September 20 indicates that during the period, most parts of the country will experience rain for two to four days, mainly between September 25 and 30.

Rainfall ranging between 40 and 50 mm is expected in the northern parts of Rubavu and Rusizi districts, western parts of Musanze, Nyabihu and Nyamagabe, and eastern Nyamasheke.

Amounts of 30 to 40mm are expected in the remaining parts of Musanze, northern and western Burera and Gakenke, western Nyaruguru, much of Nyamagabe, and most of the Western Province, excluding the eastern parts of Ngororero and Karongi, where 20 to 30mm is predicted.

Similar amounts are expected in Muhanga, Gicumbi, Kirehe, and parts of Huye, Nyanza, Ruhango, Kamonyi, Gatsibo, Gakenke, Rwamagana, Rulindo, Ngoma, Kayonza, and Nyagatare. The rest of the country will receive between 10 and 20mm.

Daytime temperatures will range between 18°C and 31°C, with the highest in Bugesera, Kigali, parts of Rusizi, Nyamasheke, Rubavu, Karongi, Amayaga region, and Eastern Province, reaching up to 31°C.

Night temperatures will fall between 7°C and 17°C, with the coldest conditions in parts of Nyabihu, Musanze, Ngororero, Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru, and Rusizi.

Moderate to strong winds of 4 to 12 metres per second are expected across the country. Strong winds are forecast in parts of Kirehe, Musanze, Burera, Nyabihu, Ngororero, Karongi, Nyamagabe, Rubavu, Rutsiro, Nyamasheke, and Rusizi, while most other regions will experience speeds of 6 to 8m/s.

The agency advised the public to take necessary precautions, particularly in areas prone to strong winds, and to follow guidance from local authorities.
