Kigali-Gicumbi cycling race set for Saturday

Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Rwanda Cycling Federation (Ferwacy) will organize a one day cycling race on Saturday from Kigali to Gicumbi. The cycling event is aimed at giving a chance to local riders ahead of next year’s Tour du Rwanda set for February, 2022.

The senior riders will race for a distance of 94km and will start at the Kigali Arena – KIE then proceed to St Paul International School – Umushumba mwiza – Nyandungu (real start) – Kigali Economic Zone – Zindiro – Kimironko – Kibagabaga – Mu Kabuga – UTEXRWA – Gisozi Genocide Memorial – ULK – Kagugu – Batsinda – Gasanze – Nyacyonga – Rukomo – Gicumbi Town – Gicumbi Stadium.

The competition will have five categories which includes; senior men, juniors, women, and U-23. The juniors will race for 71km while the women will compete in a distance of 60km. All local cycling clubs will compete in the race.

The clubs that will participate include, Muhazi Cycling Generation, Kigali Cycling Club, Kayonza Young Stars Cycling Team, Nyabihu Cycling Club, Karongi Vision Sports Center, Fly Cycling Club and Benediction Club, Benediction Ignite Club, Skol Adrien Cycling Academy and Cine Elmay.
