SC Kiyovu head coach Christian Francis Haringingo has warned rivals Rayon Sports ahead of their opening clash of the 2025/26 Rwanda Premier League, saying his side is “ready to hurt them.”

“We’ve just got to deal with what’s in front of us,” Haringingo said. “Every team is going to rise physically and mentally. We expect three points, but also to grow as a team.”

The Burundian coach praised his players’ improvement during preseason, noting progress both in attack and defence.

“We will continue to find solutions in scoring goals while staying strong defensively. If we come together, we can achieve a lot. Those who watched us today saw that there is hope,” he added, calling on fans to turn up in numbers.

On expectations for the highly anticipated clash, Haringingo was cautious but confident. “In a match like this, it’s difficult to predict the outcome. Rayon started preparations earlier, so they may be a step ahead, but we are not standing still. I am sure we are well prepared.”

Elsewhere, Bugesera host Gicumbi at Bugesera Stadium, Mukura take on Musanze at Kamena Stadium, while Police face Rutsiro at Kigali Pele Stadium, all kicking off at 15:00.

This season also comes with a major rule change: Premier League clubs can now field up to eight foreign players at once, up from the previous limit of six.
