Africa-Press – Rwanda. The 2025 Kwibuka Cricket Tournament will have many foreign teams in attendance as the Rwanda Cricket Association hopes to take the competition to another level.

The tournament which is set to take place from June 2 to 15 at Gahanga Cricket Stadium, is part of sporting activities, lined up to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsi through sports.

Emmanuel Byiringiro, the General Manager of Rwanda Cricket Association, told Times Sport that this year’s edition promises to “be even bigger,” as 11 invitations have already been sent.

Invited countries include holders Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria, Malawi, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Brazil, Malaysia and United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“Invitations have already been sent and we could have new participants in this year’s tournament,” Byiringiro told Times Sport.

The Kwibuka T20 Tournament has been running since 2014. The most successful nation in the tournament is Kenya which boasts of four titles while hosts nation Rwanda have won it once.

The 2024 edition was won by Uganda with Zimbabwe finishing as runners-up.
