League body contacts KNC amid decision to dissolve Gasogi United

Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda Premier League (RPL) Board president Hadji Mudaheranwa has said they are convincing Gasogi United president and proprietor Charles Kakooze Nkuliza (KNC) to reverse his decision to dissolve the team.

KNC told the press about the decision to disband his team with immediate effect after what he referred to as ‘corrupt refereeing’ during Saturday’s 1-0 league loss to AS Kigali at Kigali Pele Stadium.

Businessman said he is meeting the players and staff on Tuesday, January 30, to inform them about his final decision so “those who want to go home can go and those who want to join new clubs they can go as well.”

However, Mudaheranwa, who also owns topflight side Gorilla FC, told Times Sport that the board has been in contact with KNC since he announced the decision.

“After that interview, we reached out to him (KNC) to find a better way to resolve the situation,” Mudaheranwa told Times Sport on Monday.

“We are still in talks, trying to convince him to reconsider the decision. We understand his frustration, but quitting is not the right decision for the league or the club,” he added.

Regarding the AS Kigali game that triggered KNC’s decision, Mudaheranwa said that the league regulatory body did not observe any “unfair” refereeing decisions as claimed by KNC.

“It’s not about a specific game. Since the start of this season, we haven’t encountered major refereeing issues that would prompt one to take such a decision. As I mentioned, we are still engaging him hoping that Gasogi continues to compete.”
