Africa-Press – Rwanda. Ademola Lookman says the angry outburst of Victor Osimhen on some of his teammates during the match against Mozambique “is just football”.

The Super Eagles defeated Mozambique 4-0 in the second round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Monday. Osimhen scored a brace and Lookman and Akor Adams were also on target to send Nigeria into the quarter-finals.

However, a nasty episode occurred during the impressive performance. In the second half, Osimhen lost his head at Lookman for reasons yet to be identified. Their teammates were required to calm the situation.

Still boiling, the Galatasaray striker signalled to the bench to be subbed off. He was hooked, and Moses Simon was brought in.

In addition, he walked straight down the tunnel and refused to celebrate with teammates on the pitch at fulltime.

Speaking after the match about the incident, Lookman said the little tiff “doesn’t matter,” and added that Osimhen remains the team’s “number one guy” and his “brother”.

“I have not seen Osimhen but I don’t think that matters, Vic is our number one guy, everybody knows this, he’s a top striker. So, all of that doesn’t matter,” Lookman said.

“It’s just football. It’s always football. He (Victor Osimhen) is my brother.”

The Super Eagles will face either Algeria or the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) in the quarter-finals on January 10.
