Africa-Press – Rwanda. Police FC head coach Vincent Mashami is concerned with the current injury situation in his team.

Deputy skipper Muhadjiri Hakizimana and goalkeeper Onesime Rukundo missed Police’s 2-0 defeat to Mukura Victory Sports at Huye Stadium on Thursday, February 8, whereas midfield duo Abedi Bigirimana and Eric Nsabimana all had to be stretched off injured before full time.

Police have been struggling for results during the second round of the league, losing three matches and drawing once in their last four games.

Mashami claimed that absence of his key players has affected his team’s result in loss against Mukura.

“Losing Muhadjiri was a big blow, he didn’t play because he had a toe injury during our Heroes Cup final against APR. We used him in the Etincelles game, but it seemed he was forcing his injury,” Mashami told the press in a post-match interview.

“Against Mukura, we lost our goalkeeper and Eric Nsabimana. For Abedi, it’s just a muscle over pull. He needed to rest so that his injury doesn’t worsen.”

Mashami further emphasized that Sunday’s game against city rivals Rayon Sports is very tough. He urged his side to put the defeat against Mukura behind and focus on their next test against the Blues.

“We have to quickly forget about the defeat against Mukura and focused on Sunday’s game against Rayon Sports,” he said.

“The game didn’t go well for us because Mukura Victory Sports scored twice in the first half. If a team like Mukura scores you two, is difficult to come back, they are strong at home and have fans support.”

Thursday’s defeat saw the law enforcers drop to fifth position with 32 points.
