Africa-Press – Rwanda. Musanze FC assistant coach Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza, commonly known as Migi, has said his side is in contention for the Rwanda Premier League title after playing a goalless draw with Mukura Victory Sports et Loisirs at Ubworoherane Stadium on Saturday, September 30.

After four games, Musanze leads the table with 10 points, two ahead of Amagaju in second place.

Migi knows they still have long way to go even if they are leading the table.

Musanze are the only side to record a 100% win run in their three league matches and draw one match, following their bright start to the season.

“The team put on a wonderful performance in the past four games. When you are able to win more games and the opponents drop points you know that you are in business. The players need to have that winning mentality instilled into them,” the former Amavubi midfielder said.

Musanze are flying high after three wins and one draw, from four rounds in a season that has already provided shock results.

Mugiraneza added: “The players have played slightly above what we had expected from them and credit goes to the players for following the instructions. Everyone is doubting us but we want to remain in business.”

So far, Musanze has scored seven goals, conceded two goals while striker Peter Agblevor scored four goals and is top scorer in the league after four rounds.

Mugiraneza thinks Musanze is stronger this season and they need to be consistent in terms of “our performances” as they can’t afford to do well in one match and stumble in another if they are to keep fighting for the title.

It is the first time the Northern Province-based side has managed to win three opening games in the league ever since it was established. Mugiraneza announced his retirement from professional football on July 31, aged of 37, ending his 20-year career.
