Africa-Press – Rwanda. Mukura Victory Sports dominated Police FC for 90 minutes but they were unlucky as both teams settled for a goalless draw in Kigali on Sunday as the visitors reclaimed their fourth place after match day 23 of the Rwanda Premier League.
Striker Boateng Mensah hit the bar with a fantastic header in the second half while Jordan Dimbumba missed from six yards inside the penalty box as Mukura failed to make their dominance count.
The visitors started the game brightly as they played the ball mostly in the Police half. Boateng Mensah began to torment the Police FC back four with his pace and artistry as they failed to track him down.
Dimbumba missed a sitter in the 15th minute as he failed to connect a superb ball from Boateng into a yawning net.
Goalkeeper Onesme Rukundo then pulled a great save to deny Boateng a goal in the 20th minute after the Ghanaian forward cut in from the left, beat three players before unleashing a grounder.
Police FC striker Elijah Ani failed to have any leeway as all his efforts were thwarted by Abdul Jalilu. The home side’s only first half chance came in the 40th minute when Fred Muhoozi engineered space for himself before hitting a ferocious drive at the edge of the penalty box which was saved by goalkeeper Nicholas Sebwato.
Muhoozi received the first yellow card of the game in the 45th minute as he deliberately tripped Boateng who was played through on the counter.
The first half ended with the scores at 0-0 though Mukura were the better side.
Both teams made changes early in the second half as Mukura brought on Fred Niyonizeye for Samson Oladosu who seemed to have suffered a knock while Police also replaced Fred Muhoozi with Didier Mugisha.
Police started the second half superbly with Sebwato making two saves in succession to deny Ani.
Boateng then hit the bar with a glancing header from an Obed Uwumukiza corner kick in the 70th minute before Destin Malanda had a header also missing target narrowly.
Mukura head coach Lotfi Afahmia made two more changes as he brought on Bonheur Sunzu and Elie Iradukunda for Boateng Mensah and Jordan Dimbumba in the 80th minute.
After the 90 minutes had elapsed, there was five minutes of additional time during which Mukura continued to pile pressure on Police pushing to break the deadlock but the home side defended gallantly as the game ended in barren draw.
